After Scenic E-Tech electric’s win last year, Ampere is proud to power two of its new EV champions as Car Of The Year 2025:  Renault 5 E-Tech electric and Alpine A290.

The result was announced at a ceremony organized by the European Car of the Year jury at the Brussels motor show in Belgium on January 10th. The winning duo was chosen by 60 motoring journalists from 23 countries.

This award highlights the relevance of the EV strategy and the quality of the new Renault and Alpine ranges, developed and produced by Ampere. Unique in Europe, the AmpR Small platform allows both vehicles to deliver a high level of customer value, while leaving each brand free to express its own positioning in terms of design, development, onboard technologies and customer experience.

“This recognition truly embodies the full spectrum of expertise that Ampere offers: engineering, user experience, technology, manufacturing and a touch of visionary thinking. It’s also a bold adventure: combine Alpine, Renault, Ampere and Renault Group and you get game-changing electric vehicles, nothing less. Congrats to anyone involved and to all, a wonderful year that starts off with a bang!”

Josep-Maria Recasens
Chief Operating Officer

In addition to the AmpR Small platform, Ampere also developed the software architecture of Renault 5 E-Tech electric and Alpine A290. Built locally in France as part of a sustainable production system at the Douai manufacture of Ampere ElectriCity, these two vehicles have an electric motor produced at the Ampere manufacture of Cleon. In 2025, the batteries will be produced on Douai thanks to the partnership with AESC.

These iconic & accessible cars are embodying the technological expertise of Ampere teams:  innovation & French excellence. It is not just a vision, it’s a reality! We are proud to lead the way to accelerate EV mobility transition!
